John said:
“Therefore, in the beginning the Word was, for he was the Word, even the messenger of salvation—The light and the Redeemer of the world; the Spirit of truth, who came into the world, because the world was made by him, and in him was the life of men and the light of men.”[i]
What is the Light of Christ? How does it operate? How do we get it? How does it manifest to us? Is it different than the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit?
In the scriptures it says:
“He that ascended up on high, as also he descended below all things, in that he comprehended all things, that he might be in all and through all things, the light of truth; Which truth shineth. This is the light of Christ.”[ii]
From these scriptures we see that the Light of Truth is none other than Jesus Christ who is in all things. The Light of Christ is equated with the Light of Truth, the light of men and The Word as John so eloquently stated:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”[iii]
“Let there be Light” was the great command of the Creator on the 1st day of Creation, and “And God saw the light, that it was good”[iv] Not only is this light a physical entity, but also a spiritual entity. The scriptures say:
“There is no such thing as immaterial matter. All spirit is matter, but it is more fine or pure, and can only be discerned by purer eyes;”[v]
“Which light proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space—The light which is in all things, which giveth life to all things, which is the law by which all things are governed, even the power of God who sitteth upon his throne, who is in the bosom of eternity, who is in the midst of all things.”[vi]
Summarizing these verses of scripture, we see that the Light of Christ that gives us life is also the Light which governs all things and is the Spirit of Truth and the “light of men” that illuminates their path in life. As it says in Psalms:
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”[vii]
